Launcharoo
Launcharoo Web Hosting is a community-oriented web hosting provider. It is my company, so I came up with the name, brand identity, logo, and site design. I also coded the the entire website, and wrote all website copy. Maintenance and support for the site are done on an ongoing basis.
FusionOne is a leader in the wireless synchronization field. Most of my work has revolved around writing, but I've also done a good measure of web production. A lot of time, energy and research was put into over 150 HTML e-mails and promotional landing pages in the last year.
Additionally, we launched 3 websites in 4 months. I built the templates for all the FusionOne web properties, churned out over 100 pages of search engine-friendly copy and web produced nearly 400 pages in the space of four months.
VarsityBooks sells textbooks direct to college bookstores and their students. They also provide online bookstores for the colleges as part of their eduPartners service. I was asked to redesign the eduPartners section, but in a professional yet hip style that would lend itself to later implementation across the site. I also created some supplemental graphics for the main VarsityBooks.com homepage.
Thomson Learning provides tailored learning solutions -- from
print content to custom applications -- and is a division of the
Thomson Corporation. I did a variety of work for them:
Flashwork
APHonors - featured title rotation for new and upcoming textbook
releases (file at right).
WebTutor - a web-based educational
package of Thomson's. The presentation has been used to generate strong sales leads at tradeshows and national
conferences.
InfoTrac - a web-based search and content
delivery service for universities.
Site Design
eLearning -
a cohesive site detailing Thomson's many learning solutions. I redesigned
the site with a fresher look and provided code efficiency using ASP.
HEDGSF -
a resource site for the higher education group. The old site design was inefficient
from both a coding and information architecture perspective. I redesigned
and restructured the site for maximum efficiency and aesthetics using HTML
& JSP.
Homestudy Project - post 425 pages and 25 quizzes into a 125-category
framework ... in one month. The content was designed to educate Thomson sales
reps, and content was posted in the Blackboard platform, on a Thomson-cobranded
site.
APHonors - redesigned site forms for added functionality and style.
WebTutor - created several graphics and various site updates.
InfoTrac - partially redesigned the site after adding the InfoWrite section.
Work for Barnes & Noble.com (BN) was done from January - May 2002, while at Fatbrain.com. Fatbrain was purchased by BN in 2001, and maintained its own website until April 2002.
Roughly 75% of the Fatbrain content was transitioned to a BN look and feel, on the BN website. I managed the entire web production process -- from scope docs to interfacing with BN staff to melding the Fatbrain and BN styles -- and helped convert all pages to BN's website.
Fatbrain.com sold books (B2B and consumer) and hosted customized online bookstores for Fortune 1000 companies (site now redirects to BarnesandNoble.com). My work was a mix of design and development.
Design work ranged from
festive holiday promotions to sales collateral. I was also the lead developer and designer for the HTML e-mail program. In addition, I played a strong role in several usability studies, from development to implementation of the results.
Most of my development work revolved around promotions and site improvements, such as ASP scripts to lighten the code, improve error handling, or enhance clickthrough reporting through a tracking database.
Mightywords, until they closed in February 2002, was an innovator in e-publishing in a secure PDF format. My work for them was done in late 1999/early 2000, when they were still part of Fatbrain.com.
I helped coordinate our department's contribution for this company-wide project, including the bug/QA process. Much of the content at Mightywords was previously on the Fatbrain site, the transfer of which required a significant amount of time, work and resources.
Additionally, I was asked to jazz up some bland pages.
